orange beach. and more of 'the change'.

this morning i woke up 'full'.

i guess a cup of pumpkin spice coffee will do that for you.

we've had a few "big ticket items" looming over us in regard to the change i spoke about last week.

one of those big ticket items is moving.

yup. we're moving. and it had to happen quickly.

and i was so sure that the Lord would make it happen in MY timing. but, as i was so clearly reminded with each passing day, with each yucky house after the next, His ways are higher than my ways... and His thought higher than my thoughts.

ugh.

i should tell you that i wasn't being picky. i wasn't. in fact, jeff & i had both settled on an unkept house {that could be super cute with a little money and a little love, i might add} because it was down the street from two of our best friends. and when i say that it was unkept... i mean an INCH of insulation in the attic. an overgrown back yard and front yard... a plastic yellow 'chandelier' in the kitchen with white clouds on it. all the interior doors had been 'touched up' with paint that was five shades different than what was actually on the door. {actually, it might have been a totally different color.}

but i was willing. so was jeff.

my criteria were safety & function. that was it. i'm serious.

and yes, i was a designer for four years before having brady... and yes, i like pretty things, but in this case... the Lord has been teaching me what's TRULY important.

and with the loudness and clarity of this call on our lives, i was willing to sacrifice 'pretty' for His plan.

anyway... this house fell through. on saturday evening. and it was... to be honest... confusing. i questioned the call on our lives. i didn't understand... i wasn't, i thought, being materialistic. i wasn't trying to get the nicest house out there... i wasn't. so why, would a house that had been on the market for 90 days suddenly be taken off - for no reason - as soon as we go for it?

like i said, His ways are higher than mine.

and boy, did He have a blessing in store for us.

so thankful to serve a God who's knowledge is Infinite.

anyway -------- onto a more blog-friendly topic.....

over a MONTH ago {that's how behind i am} we went to orange beach, alabama with jeff's family.

just in time for the tropical storm!!

we had a great time, though. it was a very very nice change of pace for us... staying in our jammies all day... eating like kings... and doing little bits of nothing all. day. long.

loved it.

when we were getting off of the plane, the pilots asked brady if he wanted to come and sit down with them. {the hubbs thought they were talking to him at first and got super excited.... then realized they were talking to brady....}

we made up fun games to play.

this was our version of 'minute to win it'.

another wave of the storm.... seriously. i can't imagine what HURRICANE force winds would be like.

it was opening weekend for college football. yay.

uncle bubba is a huge 'fighting irish' fan.

too bad he's had a rough start to the season....

that's all i have for today. maybe actual BEACH pictures tomorrow next week?

happy monday.

private. {again}.

good morning, lovelies.

how have you been?

yes, i've been absent lately. due to crazy, unpredictable life! isn't that the case for everyone?

nevertheless, i haven't been able to clear my head & thoughts long enough to sit down & write what i would call a 'cohesive' post! so here i am, getting STRAIGHT to the point.

jeff & i have been praying about this for some time, and in the best interest of our family, we've decided to make THIS blog private.

'THIS blog', you say?

yes! THIS blog.

that means, i will continue to chronicle & document my family and our daily goings-on here. but, it is my intention to start a new blog that will house my project life/crafty/DIY/yummy goodness sort of stuff. the way i invision it, it will probably keep some clippings of our family stuff & personal thoughts - just in a different way.

i will have more details in the coming week, but if you would like to be on the reader 'list' for this blog, please leave a comment below with your email address!!!!

we will turn the blog to private on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12.

i hope y'all are having a WONDERFUL weekend!

'sic em!

top golf.

monday night, i packed up the kids and headed to top golf up in dallas.
it was a celebration for my dad's brithday. {big daddy}.

and it was super fun.

even for charlotte!!!
they had misters and fans blowing and everything. {her cheeks are still rosy - she's just cute like that.}

my mom used to golf a fair amount when we were younger.
she came from golfers.

my grandmother {megaw} has made three hole-in-ones in her life. pretty cool.

my grandaddy {MY big daddy} has made two. she's got him beat.

my brother has made one.

and brady?

well, he thinks ALL sports are awesome. and i can't tell you how many sets of golf clubs we have floating around our house & our yard.

so - top golf is basically a glorified driving range. {since i know a ton about golf and everything...}
but it keeps score. {i guess a normal golfing range doesn't?}

they have golf clubs there. or you can bring your own.
all the real golfers {like my hubby} brought their own.

my mom, my sister & i shared. {and my sweet cousin kendall shared one of her "real" golf clubs with me. she's REAL good.}

charlotte ate & sat. loving every minute of the attention {and food}.

can you tell that i really know what i'm doing?? {can you hear my sarcasm??}

i played softball for TWELVE years. LONG years.
and apparently it's affected my golf swing.

gotta work on that. {or do i?}

when i tried to keep my foot 'planted' {which is a NO-NO in softball} i totally missed the ball. but if i swung like i normally would - i'd go far. so - i stopped worrying about my form.

don't let jeff's score fool you. he was going for power the first game. the second game he won by far. in the 100's.
i keep telling myself "the person with the LOWEST score wins golf, right???"

on our way down there, brady and i talked a LOT about 'taking turns'.... and waiting patiently. and not throwing a temper tantrum while we waited.
but this was great. these games were right behind where we were playing so he could run around while he waited for his turn. and, of course, it helped when uncle trent played too.

brady was playing all by himself, and trent said when he walked up to ask if he could play too, brady said, "i'm not doing so well, trent."
love my big boy.

loved seeing uncle cammie.

on our way home brady told me that he liked to hit next to uncle cam. i felt bad because brady could be kind of distracting... "uncle cam! watch me hit! watch me!"

we made it until about 9. then charlotte started to melt so i took the littles home.
jeff stayed and tried to hash out another game with the 'real' golfers. apparently my dad won. i know jeff was SUPER happy about that. haha!!

have you played top golf? i highly recommend it! there's a new one over in allen! jeff & i had said that our next date night we would go to that patrizio's & top golf. i hope that comes SOON!!!!
